Change is a way of life–also at the Nehemiah Center

The Nehemiah Center would like to announce the recent change of leadership in the role of Executive Director. We would like to thank Daniel Boniche, director of seven years, for his many years of dedication to the Nehemiah Center as Executive Director. He has decided to step down from his leadership role and enter into a new stage of his life to enjoy retirement.

We would like to welcome Luz Urania de Largespada as the new Executive Director. She has worked with the Nehemiah Center for 15 years and has accepted this new position as director.

In this issue you will find a farewell letter from Daniel and greetings from Luz Urania.

In addition, to the changes in leadership, we would also like to present the re-focused mission and vision for the Nehemiah Center. We spent the majority of 2014-15 fiscal year evaluating our programs and developing a new Strategic Plan for 2015-2020. The result was a redefined Mission and Vision statement. These redefined statements have given a refined focus to the ministry of the Nehemiah Center as it seeks to cultivate transformation in local churches in Nicaragua.

We facilitate opportunities of growth and collaboration for churches and para-church organizations in order to serve them and to strengthen them in holistic mission for the advancement of the Kingdom of God, locally as well as globally.

We see healthy churches, actively growing in holistic mission.

Identity Statement:

The Nehemiah Center is a community of learning and service that contributes to the formation of leaders and to the continuing training of pastors using a biblical and holistic worldview, and that cultivates local, national, and international collaboration for Christ-centered cultural transformation of communities and nations.

Daniel Boniche says Farewell as Nehemiah Center Director

Dear Friends,

Everything is beautiful in God’s timing, including endings.

Over the past seven years, it has been a blessing to serve each one of you as Executive Director of the Nehemiah Center. I am grateful for the many ways the Lord showed his love and grace through the many supporters of the center. It fills me with satisfaction to have been able to contribute to the mission of our beloved organization.

It was an extraordinary experience to be part of this community that serves God and his people.  It has been a great privilege to see what God has done through the Nehemiah Center during this time: to see pastors, leaders, educators and business people breaking paradigms and becoming more committed to the transformation of their lives and surroundings.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to:

  • The Board of Directors of the Nehemiah Center for their trust and support.
  • The members of the core community with whom we shared dreams, worries and hopes.
  • The staff of the Nehemiah Center who were faithful in carrying out each task given to them.
  • Luz Urania de Largespada for accepting the challenge of taking over the direction of the Nehemiah Center.
  • My wife, Gloria, who has always been an exceptional support in my life.

Throughout my time as director, I learned many things:

  • The importance of trusting God and his people more
  • The effectiveness and power of working as a team to reach common goals
  • The sense of responsibility and self-governance of a team that lead to growth and achievement.
  • That it is possible to work in harmony with other institutions and people of distinct cultures.

Working in a community of service, learning and collaboration have been very valuable to me. To those who continue the work of the Nehemiah Center, I want to encourage you to find joy in the beautiful mission that God has entrusted to you.

Look ahead without fear!

For the King and for his glory.
Daniel Boniche Silva

A Letter from the New Director of the Nehemiah Center

Dear Friends,

Sometimes a new road still has the same destination.

A number of years ago, the Nehemiah Center marked its destination as an organization and dreamed that Nicaragua could be a better country.  We dreamed of contributing to its improvement with the help of God, just as Nehemiah the prophet did with the city of Jerusalem.

This dream has awakened us each morning in recent years and has shaped the route we follow. The leadership of the Nehemiah Center has been in charge of shaping these steps and ensuring that we follow an adequate path.

Today, with a new five year plan and a revised mission statement we have reshaped the route but still pursue the same destination and the same goal as an organization: To collaborate with God in the reconstruction of our nation through the local church.

In this new stage of the organization, it falls on me as the new Executive Director of the Nehemiah Center, to set out new challenges, provide new routes, indicate new goals that, with sure steps, will bring us a little bit closer to our destination.  We know that our Lord Jesus Christ accompanies us on this journey.

The God of history has been with us in past years. His kindness and his provision renew our hope and motivate us that together we can build the future.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Philipians 3:13-14 (NIV)
